Then you imagine how difficult and dangerous it would be to uproot your whole family and travel into an unknown wilderness. Why would people even risk it? What if we don't make it? What if it's not what we expected? Would the outcome be worth it? You talk to your friends some more and then you make up your mind...
You and your partner and your families are about to embark on one of these journeys west. You will be given a quest to follow. Your jobs will be to research the event and put together a project to share your findings with the rest of the class. There will be questions to guide you and a list of websites to get you started. Watch Discovery Education and BrainPop videos. Use books in the MediaLab. Take lots and lots of notes. Make sure your notes answer all the questions. Pay close attention to things that sound unusual or amazing as these will be interesting materials for your project. Make sure you keep track of all the places (web sites, books, videos, etc.,) where you collect information. You will be required to cite these sources as part of your project. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
EVERYONE WILL DO THIS FIRST PART OF THE QUEST. Put both of your names on the 1 sheet of paper you will be sharing.
