The Mexican-American War
Congratulations! You've been elected to the U.S. Senate in 1840. Things had been going pretty good for you until the end of 1845 when there begins to be talk about going to war with Mexico over Texas becoming part of the United States. Many of the people in your state support your stand on this issue so you have agreed to make a speech before Congress arguing why you believe the U.S. should go to war with Mexico or why you believe we should not go to war with Mexico. You must try to persuade the other Congressmen to side with you as your belief is the right one.
First, choose whether you are a Northern Senator or Southern Senator as that will play a role in your decision.
Use the resources below to answer the questions here. These will guide you in coming up with your speech which you will type in MS Word. You will also respond to 3 situations you will present in PowerPoint or BoardBuilder.
